'Laces' - Proposed Chow Kit Community Sports Centre

The structure featuring ramps that predominantly link all the functional spaces together. The entrance grreted by the circular steps going up to the entry court from Jalan Sri Amar. The entrance were placed at the crossing of Jalan Sri Amar and Lorong Haji Taib and directed towards the main vehicular access from Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, constitute a spatial sequence that offers a necessary urban hierachy for the metropolitan complex. The cafe and the gallery area are organized at the side of the main entrance next to Lorong Haji Taib 1 and overseeing the community of business trading and commercial activities along the street. The built body recompasses the traditional way of urban configuration, but it also permits through an elevated structure above the opened ground floor, the desired and necessary permeability. The height adjustment of the building proposed to the main vista of KLCC view, offers more than a transition from the rich historical context and the town district; it offers the intangible possibilities of an aerial extension of the local lifestyle towards the city area and bounce back to the site itself.

The design is conceptually organized as the LACES - On each floors, connecting bridges analogue the ‘laces’ - enable the highest level of communications between two spaces. These connecting bridges lace together the building mass, forming a unique and highly communicative building which also expresses in ‘playfulness’ in the sports community centre. - featuring also as a vertical jogging track.

The gallery, filled with history, information, and the act of livingmemory, is strongly connected to the site as like how human actor who lets lifepasses, naturally. Sides of the gallery are enlighted by the large panel of clear glass, thus creating ultimate reflection and hallucination of views. Right behind the gallery is the little cafeteria and the broadwalk area. The open square on the ground floor featuring a ‘unifying ramp’ that literally connect the structure back to the back aleeyways and various of tiby activities take place here. The most prominent spot of the structure will be the rooftop garden and the rooftop futsal court, exercise on the rooftop and offering great views of the Petronas Twin Tower.
